Hi all,

I've been using the Pre since June and am a frequent poster on precentral.net.

I did really like the Pre, but the Hero from all i read about is a better fit for me.

I just have some questions if anyone knows, i would greatly appreciate any and all help.

1. What is the largest microSD card that works with the Hero? (and what does it come with?)

2. Does it come with a case and/or screen protector? Any recommendations?

3. Is there a sticky thread or guide i might have missed that would point out the "MUST HAVE" apps?

4. I've never had a virtual keyboard, is it decent? Better in landscape? And are you able to use it in landscape in all programs?

5. Any Android vets out there recommend anything else to do when i first get the Hero?

6. Last, how is the battery life? I know it's 1500 mah, sounds decent to me.

THANK YOU ALL AGAIN!

I come from a Palm Pre too. So far the device rocks.

It comes with a 2GB card; not quite sure what the max size supported is but I have a 8GB in mine.

Accessories are pretty bare; there is only a charger and a usb cable.

I'm waiting for bestskinever to release a full body skin; they have great prices.

The keyboard is decent. It's easy to type and the auto correction is good. It gets kinda laggy if you type too fast. You won't reach typing speeds like on the Pre or the iPhone.
Edit: The reason for the lag is the haptic feedback. I turned it off; added keyboard sounds and I can now type as fast as I can. :)

Overall I'm happy with my device but will be checking out the Samsung Moment too.

Thanks!

I was going to wait for the Moment, but i like the Sense UI too much, that and i'm impatient :)

Does it come shipped with 1.5 or 1.6?

Sense UI is awesome. I really like it compared to the g1.
The phone comes with 1.5. I know the Moment will have 1.6; but I'm not sure if the Hero will get it.

Thanks again!

I'll use your haptic feedback tip.

Since you come from the Pre, is the Hero a phone where i can turn on Pandora and do other things?

I have a 16GB SD card in my phone which works fine. Should support 32GB, but not found one yet.

The UK version doesn't come with a case or screen protector. However I have had mine for over two months now and always carry it my pocket, sometimes with keys, and it's still fine.

Keyboard is great - predictive text means you don't need to be too accurate - it just 'knows' what you meant. Brilliant

I've got a Pre and I've got a Hero on the way added to a second line. I thought about waiting on the Moment but then it hit me, if I get the Hero now and the Moment comes out on November 1 then I can do the switch in the first 30 days thing or if Android doesn't seem to be doing it for me then I can just send the Hero back and go back to one line.

Man, I need a cheaper hobby!

As far as the screen protecter goes, i just bought a pack of those universal ones for $7.99 at best buy and cut it to fit the Hero, it works, looks, and feels great...nice cheap fix, i actually put it on before i even touched the phone..right out of the box. I just ordered a smoke colored plastic full case from an online store for the sprint hero and im waiting to get that, it was only 5.99 plus shipping, so i will let all of you know how that works out when i get it.
