Well rooting ones phone allows for alot of stuff that is not possible without SU access. but remember to whom much is given much is required. You might want to take a look at what it takes to root your phone, and see if it is worth it in your situation.

I have been hearing this CyonogenMod 7 a lot. If I do this what are the consequences if I root my phone.

The worst case scenario...Voiding your phone's warranty. Other then that - it's all good dude.

voiding out the warranty is not good and if you don't know how to root don't do it. If you know someone you can trust who knows how to root your phone, make the decision at your own risk. I haven't rooted and no intention

Honestly I dont know how to root, and I dont know anyone that knows how to. What I would like is to get a new HTC Hero or a refurbished on with out paying lol
