Hiemdall vs. Odin

No... this is not a thread about the movie Thor!

Quick question... I learned to use Hiemdall for the first time yesterday. Very easy to do...

However, today, I tried to use ODIN to flash a modem, but, the ODIN program did not detect my phone.

Is that because I installed drivers for Hiemdall? Just curious if this is normal or not.

Very likely associated with the drivers.

If you are familiar with Heimdal it is a better tool and continue to use it.. Odin is a good tool but does not offer the same flexibility as Heimdal.

OK, so, I just ran into a problem... could use your help...

for some reason, I was stuck on the Glitch/Galaxy S screen.... well, I was just going to flash back to stock DL09 (or the new ED05)

However, like I siad... ODIN doesn;t recognize my phone at the moment.

I am not familiar enough with Hiemdall to get back to stock using it... could use some guidance please!

Since you have not had enough experience with Heimdal - uninstall the drivers associated with that software then you should be able to connect using Odin. Your computer will likely need to be rebooted for the changes to take place.. As long as you have the Samsung drivers on board you should be fine.

I am heading away from my computer for a number of hours.. Hope someone can help out..

Dang! From context presuming you guys are talking Windows for both Odin & Heimdal :-\

Yea, I'm playing with fire: Heimdal on Lion? Drivers for Mac needed?

K, backed up SD to Mac and just installed Heimdal on Lion, restarted (sweet: all the same stuff opens on restart). Nice, Image Capture comes up, tell it to default to Heimdal when Fassy plugs in, bingo.

Makin' nandriod bup, have to re-copy SD, or at least the nandroid...

K, so made nandriod, supposedly, in red recovery 2.5.1.x iirc, where is it???

Ahh, of course, in the cwm! So, since all the shortcut icons magically disappeared from center home page...

Neat! nandriod restore brought back home page...

Soooo... how to use Heimdal to flash...
