So I've been experimenting with FLAC audio files, to see if I hear a noticeable difference when playing on my G3, now the 3 LG songs that came included on the phone had the HIFI logo, yet when I add FLAC files to the phone they do not have the HIFI logo.

Any idea why?

it's all about information volume. for sure flac is good

mp3 files encoded at 320 bps are great also

more info in the file means more clean sound

Just because a file is in FLAC (lossless) format doesn't mean it's Hi-Fi (or high fidelity). FLAC is the end product of an audio file whereas Hi-Fi refers to the quility production of the audio itself, before it gets converted into any type of format. Even RAW audio samples aren't all HiFi. The term distinguishes high quality productions of sound versus lower quality.

So what is LG's definition of HiFi?

Good question. That's a pretty subjective term as far as audio goes, but typically the term is used to describe the quality of audio equipment capable of playing HiFi without loss of quality (hardware restrictions).

I wouldn't worry about it since you're using a lossless codec, the descriptor means nothing and won't change anything.
