Hip height drop Display shattered

You all are right. I mean what was i expecting if it is all glass... oh my... haha the new note 7 i will wrap in bubble wrap xD

Lmao y'all seen this viseo where the phone exploded and set the jeep on fire hahaha this would be 2 birds and one stone getting new phone and a new car Hahahaha.

I'm so glad we all get a second chance on the N7 because I really love it so far.

There's no real alternative since I-Lame 7 is a Joke too.

I know a lot of people with car notes that probably wish they had a note 7 to charge in their cars. Lollll

Gorilla glass isn't, and isn't claimed to be, shatterPROOF. Any glass screen can break, if it lands right (or wrong). My son did the same thing with his LG G3. Bye bye screen. OTOH, I did the same with my G3 multiple times and it survived without any problem. I've seen phones drop from twice as high, bounce, and come out fine. And others crack from falling off a coffee table onto a wood floor. It all depends on just how it hits, and where the stresses in the glass are.

Life sucks, glass breaks. Today's phones are fragile because customers demand big screens, tiny bezels and thin devices. The edge screens are perhaps more fragile than some because of the exposed sides, but that should have been obvious just from looking at it.

That's not true. I think reviewers demand those things. No one wants a fragile device. The Lumia 1520 was all plastic and had some weight on it.
To me it was one of the best phones ever made. I think glass backs on phones is just stupid. Why not use transparent aluminum...yea I went there.

Mine fell from a similar height and it wasn't the edge that shattered it was the middle edge on the left. There is a large chunk missing and the screen splintered. I will still be getting a new Note 7 (I loved it), but don't count on Gorilla Glass 5 protecting your phone.

I have dropped my S6 Edge without a case from much higher and not even a scratch. I understand it is glass, but its durability is one of Samsung's selling points. I am not complaining per se because it is going back to the store Wednesday, but if this wasn't the case (ha, ha) I would be quite upset! My Note 7 was in a Spigen case.

So I was getting out of my car yesterday and had my phone in my purse on hip height and it fell out...

Gorilla glass my ... the right side along the edge shattered. Top and bottom. LCD is minimal black on the right upper side

I'm just hoping since i havent turned my note 7 in at the ATT store with i have to on the 21st that they'll still replace it.

What makes me mad is that it didn't even survive a little drop like this :(

They make cases for a reason.

A phone that drops from hip height and cracks has issues. I can understand doing a glass screen protector for the display which should crack before the display screen, but it should not be a requirement to have a case for the back.

Mine totally shattered from a few inches from the floor. I was bending down to give my dog a treat and it slipped out of my other hand. I must have dropped my Note 5 dozens of times and there are no scratches on it.

Yeah, but even with a case, the glass edges are still exposed! The only way to protect the glass edges would be to cover them up! Which obviously defeats the purpose of having a curved edge screen. Personally, I could do without the glass edges (and back!!!) in favor of a more durable phone!

A forum member jpprice14 posted a pic of his replacement... look like a redesign?? Ya think Samsung noticed that thit sides were maybe too brittle??

Mine fell off the counter onto tile this morning and back corner shattered. Frustrating. My old HTC one m9 had that same drop plenty of times and no issues with cracked screen. Really disappointing.

Glass curved devices are crack magnets. I have a bumper case on mine, but am certain it will not handle a drop like the MXPE with just a thin case on it. Dropped that several times from various heights: Stairwell onto concrete, movie theater onto concrete, garage onto concrete, and in house onto wood floor. All were drops of at least three feet and the stairwell one was about five feet. Not a sign of any damage.

I miss the durability and stereo speakers of the MXPE. Shame I have to allocate additional brain cells to extra-focus on not dropping the Note 7. That will be the next Note 7 scandal- stress induced ownership ;)

the person that posted the pic for me... wasn't sure but thought that his first phone, the screen curving off to the edge, didn't have such a border at the edge and sent a pic. Honestly I can't tell not owning one and just going by google pics of Note 7s... some pics show the display edge flowing over more closer to edge... some show a hint of a border. So Just wondering if others may notice a change.

What is the apparent design change? Not being smart, but not noticing in the one pic.

Still glass though ;) Gravity and hard surfaces are bad news for glass. Especially curved and encased.

Note 8 dreamworld: Stereo speakers, metal- non glass back, replaceable battery. Greatest device evah'!
