Hisense Sero 7 Pro - a User's Review

I just returned from my nearest Walmart. They have raised the price to $ 149.95. I didn't buy the tablet.

WoW! you're right - that's a surprise for WalMart to increase the price -
they had only just dropped it back in August from $149......

Now its main rival the Asus Memo HD 7 is available street priced at about $129!
seems like WalMart has just shot itself in the foot.

BUT could this be a ruse so that they can drop the price for Black Friday and Cyber Monday?
- so don't give up yet.

If it is of any interest WalMart has the Sero 7 Pro Refurbished for $109......

Even so I suggest waiting for Black Friday then Cyber Monday just to see what the prices are then -
just two days away.....

Any comments on the Asus Memo HD 7?

I had the same cynical thought about Walmart's raising the price so that they could lover it on Black Friday. I'm willing to buy if the price goes back to $ 129.

The $ 149 price makes me consider alternatives like the Nexus 7 (2012). I'd need to buy a 32 G MicroSD card for the Hisense so we're up to about $ 170.

Are there limitations in using the space on a MicroSD card for things like maps and photos?

It's the direct rival - the casing is not as good as the Hisense -
there is a choice of colors - most of them are glossy - but the blue is matte.

It comes with 16GB flash memory but does not have HDMI, and the back camera does not have the LED flash.

Android 4.2.2 (Hisense is still 4.2.1)

If I had the same choice now, I'd get the cheaper one....

Yes, well the Nexus 7 (either version) does NOT have SD expansion - one of their major oversights, and no rear camera.

So actually either the Asus Memo HD 7 or the Hisense Sero 7 Pro is better, and probably still cheaper new.

No limitations for photos that I know of.

But Google Maps doesn't seem to save off-line maps to external SD card - but they are not massive -
some mapping apps can store off-line to SD card.
There were posts about off-line maps earlier in this thread.
