Home button launches Blur instead of Go Launcher while in HD Dock

I used to have my Atrix load Nightstand Bold automatically when it was in the HD dock but it made the home button also load that app. I wanted to change back to the home button showing my Go Launcher home screen so I cleared Nightstand Bold as the default. Then I set the other app I could choose after docking (can't remember exactly what right now) to default instead, thinking it would use Go Launcher but now home goes to Blur's home screen instead. I looked for an app that had a default set to make Blur open but came up empty. Which app's default should I clear to stop the home button from using Blur?

This only happens while docked. As soon as I undock, home uses Go Launcher like I want.

I ended up finding the app last night. Not sure how I missed it before: "Motorola Dock Service" under all apps.

A little off subject, but how do you like the dock? Is it worth the $90ish price or is it not really useful? I have seen write ups on the laptop dock, but is this the same user experience just with your own monitor, keyboard, and mouse? Thanks

Fry's had it for $80 so I got it for $87 with tax. I loved the charging dock for my blackberry so I planned to get the Atrix's standard dock anyway for bedside use. I just went ahead and got the HD one for the extra functionality and remote control for media playback. I set it up with my 46" TV and used the wireless mouse/kb from my desktop PC and it worked very nicely. I have one Logitech unifying receiver paired to both and it worked immediately after plugging in. I had 6 tabs open in firefox before I noticed a slow down, but it was still very usable. One tab was ESPN.com's Pac-10 football blog with video playing back and another was facebook, and I was playing an mp3. I haven't had a chance to try playing a video or music from a USB drive, though, so I don't know if that works. I can see the Webtop setup coming in handy for whenever people come over and we want to look through someone's facebook or picasa photo albums or videos on youtube.

At $90 I wouldn't really recommend or advise against it...depends on how often and how you'd use it. So far I only tried it a couple of times on the TV so I haven't quite gotten my full $80 out of it yet. I use it next to my bed to play music so the remote is nice to have - I don't have to walk over to change the song. If it drops to around $60-65 I'd say it's worth it. I thought I'd get an extra charger that I could use without the dock, but it isn't micro USB.

Let me know if you have any other questions about it.

calbearz24,
I just asked this same question here. When I go to clear the defaults, the button isn't highlighted. Can you go into more detial on how you fixed this?

When I am docked if I hit the home button it will show blur, but in the top tab you see go launcher just like any other app I am running, Click on it and go launcher is up and running again.

Thanks for the feedback.

I do see that icon, and it re-displays the option to either use the:
1) Widget Clock
2) Do Nothing

I don't get an option to go to my Launcher.

Drew,

Go to settings>applications>manage applications>all and look for "Motorola Dock Service" and clear the default to get the option to choose after docking. To get away from just having the widget clock or do nothing options only and to avoid having the home button use blur, I had to have Nightstand Bold installed. I don't think you don't need that specific app; maybe anything dock-related should do. After that it still asks what I want to use, the Motorola Dock apps or Nightstand bold. I actually don't want either one, so I just escape out of that popup and home still uses go launcher. If I pick the Motorola Apps option as default, the home button launches blur. If I pick Nightstand as default, home goes to Nightstand instead of go launcher. Seems like there isn't a "do nothing" option that truly does nothing, since the Motorola do nothing actually changes the home button to blur. I think having another dock app option besides motorola's is the key.

That did it! thank you all!

Simply put: If you dock, and use the Motorola Dock Mode...when you hit the Home button, it will take you to Blur.

If you use another dock application and set it as default, you will stay away from Blur when the home button is hit.

Cool, I'm glad you got it fixed. Which app did you end up using?

I grabbed One Nightstand Free just to test the solution. I really don't use the phone as a clock, so I'll remove it once I get things figured out (see below).

I prefer the Car Home Dock v3 interface I use for my Car dock...Now I just need to find a way to launch that application when I insert into the Multimedia dock. Or find another multimedia dock application that provides the big button functionality and ability to customize.

Any ideas?
