Home page shortcut to Inbox?

I have two Exchange ActiveSync accounts - one for work and one personal.

On my Thunderbolt, I can have a shortcut to an Inbox on my home page. I have 1 that is a shortcut to my personal email inbox and one that takes me to my work email Inbox.

When I receive an email, the home page shortcut for that email account shows a bubble with the unread count for that Inbox. It's really nice to be able to glance at my home screen during after hours, see that I got a new email in my work inbox, and ignore it until in the morning.

Unfortunately, I can't see a way to do the same thing on my new Galaxy Tab. I can, either, have one email icon on my home screen that shows the total (between my two accounts) number of unread messages. OR, I can have an icon for each that takes me to the respective inbox, but the icon does not display a bubble with the unread count. Either way, I have no way to tell, when an email comes in, whether it's work or personal without opening an inbox or opening the notification at the bottom.

Is there any way to get my Tab to do what my phone does?

Thanks!

I don't have my Tab with me so I can't reference it. But, checked to see if you can add a label as a widget? It would be under the add widgets to homescreen.

If the above does not work you can try an app from the market, https://market.android.com/details?id=org.hubris.gmailnotifierpro&feature=search_result, that will do what you want. There are others in the market that may be free. Search for "gmail notifier", or something along those lines :)

Thanks, srkmagnus, but I appear to be out of luck, because I'm not using Gmail. I do see a Gmail Label widget. And the link you posted is also for Gmail. But, I have Exchange accounts, so I'm using Mail, not Gmail.

The point may be moot. I think I'm going to return this Tab for a refund anyway. I downloaded 9 different apps last night that are all supposed to be for taking handwritten notes. Some of them I even paid for. And I bought a capacitive stylus with the Tab. None of these apps works worth a hoot on this Tab. And at least one review I read said something about the Galaxy Tab specifically not working well for this. I briefly tried the Asus Transformer SuperNote app and it seemed to work WAY better. So I think I'm going to return the Galaxy and try a Transformer next. Maybe it will also at least match my phone for being able to manage my Exchange email. :D

Ah, ok. Well, its good to know you are going to give Android another shot with the Transformer :)

Oh, hellz-to-the-yeah! :)

It's just a matter of which one. Well, unless the iPad 2 with Notes Plus is as good as all the reviews and I can't find an Android tab to match it.

Really, I'm just trying to avoid paying $850 for an HTC Jetstream.... :D
