home screen crashing

My home screen has been crashing lately. I get a message "unfortunately, home has stopped". After clicking on, it takes a few seconds and a loading icon for everything to come back. Happens after j leave random apps. I haven't downloaded anything new. Seemed to start happening after I put in my 200gb SD card. Idk if it can be that though.

I've cleared the cache for all my apps, did the lg smart cleaning thing, but it still happens 2-3 times a day.

Any ideas/ recommendations?

Do you have any third-party widgets on the home screen?

Clock, weather, inbox counters, etc.

I have the pre-installed Gmail, calendar, and AccuWeather widgets. Only one I downloaded was a widget called "minimal clock", that's been installed since the week I got the phone (first week of November).

I just cleared all the data for lg home, not just the cache. I had to redo all my home screen stuff. I'll report back if it happens again. I it does, I'll try u installing the clock widget and see if that helps.

My phone has just started doing this in the last 2 days. I am going back through to see if there's any new apps that I have installed that might have caused the problem.

Perhaps it's not a "new" app, but an update on one isn't playing well with the phone. Look in Google Play at your recently updated apps..If it's a short list, try disabling them one at a time until you've found your culprit.

This happened to me too just a little while ago for the first time. I have Minima Pro live wallpaper. Maybe that's it

Just did it again for me. Just u installed the clock widget. If that doesn't work I'll try a factory reset.

*Update*

I didn't factory reset the phone yet, but my girlfriends G4 started doing the same thing today. She said it did some updates last night and since then it started doing it. Might be a thing for lots of people then.

mine is not crashing but I am noticing when i switch to my home screen now.. every so often i get a "loading" message for a split second first
its not a big deal but that didn't happen when i first got the phone.. probably because I added some folders to the home screen..

Mine was doing that's for a few weeks before it started doing this. I just thought it was due to the few widgets I have. Hasn't done that since the crashing started though. Maybe the crashing I'm having is an evolution of the same problem.

Mine and my wifes G4 have started doing this as well. Also the Smart Settings is getting the same error as well. So it must be something that updated. As to what I would think that it is some native app to the G4 or something you would expect like fb twitter etc.

She said smart settings were doing it for her too. I've only had lg home. So yea, I'm guessing it's some silly app that was updated
