i need help removing shortcut icons from homescreen.. I cant just hold and make it move?

Welcome to the forums. Have you already enabled the app drawer? If I recall correctly it is hidden by default, so all your apps reside on your home screens. See this article.

If you don't want the app drawer, and doing a long press is not letting you delete a particular app or icon, you can long press an empty spot on your home screen to enter settings and hide any icons you don't want to see

I have the app drawer and I know how to remove them but these aren't apps. they are shortcut links to google drive.when you long press nothing happens.

Don't you get a 'Remove' icon at the top when you long press the shortcut?

Do you mean that you get the Remove option when you long press an app shortcut but not with the Google Drive ones?

By the way, are you using any custom launcher?

I am using the Nougat launcher. I was able to renove the icons by simply turning my phone to lanscape and it allowed me to pick up the icon. Thanks for your help!
