home screen(s) customization

New to TB (<48 hrs. old) and am running BamF GB Sense 3.0 which is amazing.

I've been spending the better part of a few hours customizing my home screen(s) to my liking. If/when I decide to try another ROM or an updated version of this one, will I lose all of this? I've read backup threads, including the use of Titanium B/U and My Backup, and both instructions state to never restore system settings. So are these customizations save-able? are they even system settings?

To my knowledge the home screen layout can only be saved when you change roms without wiping data such as updating a rom to a newer version. If you go from one rom to another rom then you have to set up your home screens again.
I think the general rule is to not restore app data and only to restore the app itself. Good luck.
