Question Home Search Bar won't remove

Welcome to Android Central! It's not that unusual for search bars to be unremovable -- that's the case for the Google search bar on the Pixel Launcher. But as mustang7757 alluded to, you can get around this by installing a 3rd party launcher like Nova.

I turned off Google but "Search" still shows but just clicks when pressed. I've been changing the Home screen so I don't think it's locked. I haven't dealt with a 3rd party launcher and would rather just find a way to get rid of it.

I assume nothing happens if you long-press the search bar? If you are actually able to move the search bar around by long-pressing it, then also see if there's a Remove option at the top of the screen.

The other place to look would be the homescreen settings. Long-press any empty part of the homescreen, then look for a Settings or Options button. This should take you to a homescreen settings menu. See if there's an option there to include or get rid of the search bar.
