Homescreen Shortcut to text or call a Contact

Welcome to Android Central! You should create a new thread in the Galaxy S26 forum, rather than ask on this very old thread about the Moto Z. You'll get a better response that way.

Try edge panel

Go to Settings >Display> Edge Panels.
Enable People panel.
Add the contact.
When you open the panel and tap the contact, it shows Call or Message.

When I add a contact to my home screen, it gives me a option for direct dial or send a message. Are you going through the contacts app?
