Honeymoon is over

The S6 exynos radio lte performance was the worst so says my local T-mobile store reps. They delt with it every day bad stuff.
A year of S6 tempted & reps ran me away keep your S5 or buy Note 4.

Could you expand on that? I have the S6 with Tmo and my LTE is sometimes horrendous! But I have full bars and mediocre 4G+ that i can get by with if I switch mobile bands.

Us Verizon here.
I use my phone non stop throughout the day. Zero battery issues.

Apps I abuse: imgur, bleacher report, Facebook, Twitter, IMDb, yelp, daily mail.

I have zero background data used on my apps. If I'm not opening it or using it, data isn't consumed.

Also, I have AOD on.

My battery has been perfect. The first few days were crazy but that's expected.

I think both are false no fact until both units are side by side tested real use.

Here you go...

The Exynos chip on the Global model comes out way ahead of the Snapdragon in this GSMArena battery life test, also.

Samsung Galaxy S7 edge battery life (Exynos and Snapdragon)

Galaxy S7: Exynos vs Snapdragon performance and battery life comparison

"Conclusion
With one draw and two outright victories, the Eynos 8890 seems to be the better choice when it comes to choosing a chipset for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. The results weren’t marginal either, suggesting that Samsung spent a lot more time optimising the Exynos variant than the Snapdragon model — or perhaps the Exynos chipset is simply superior. Either way, American and Chinese consumers might be wise to import a European model… as long as they’re planning to use their phones on a GSM network in their home countries.
"

The reason that the U.S.A. and China have the quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip and not Samsung's octa core Exynos 8890 chip is because they both have the minority CDMA networks instead of the worldwide GSM. So blame China Telecom, Verizon and Sprint.

Just trying to gather some data...For those on the SD820 and getting 4+ SOT in a 20+ hrs day, are you:
- disabling any bloat? If so, what bloat?
- using background data?
- using VoLTE or Wifi Calling
- turning wifi or BT off?
- push email or other push services?
- is location/GP's turned on?
- is location history in Google turned on or off?
- is "OK Google" detection turned on or off? Is the from any screen or from lock screen option active?

I've spent the first two weeks heavily tweaking my S7 as I always do with new Androids. Mine (820 chip) is now getting just as stellar battery life as my Note 5 - if not better. I average about 6-7 hours of SOT. Managed to snag 9 hours of SOT once thus far. Couldn't quite get that high with the Note 5.

I have the Verizon model and I usually get about 3-4 hours with 16 hours on the battery with "normal" use or 6-7 SOT with 12-13 hours on the battery with heavy use with the following :
- disabling any bloat? Yes
--- If so, what bloat? most verizon apps except Hot spot and my verizon, amazon music, caller ID,Verizon cloud, go90,NFL mobile, and Slacker radio.
- using background data? yes
- using VoLTE or Wifi Calling? Wifi Calling yes VoLTE no
- turning wifi or BT off? Wifi sometimes because I may be outside on the very edge of the network and not actually getting data(only at work)
- push email or other push services? Gmail push and a few other apps here and there No facebook
- is location/GP's turned on? On
- is location history in Google turned on or off? Not sure want to say on
- is "OK Google" detection turned on or off? Is the from any screen or from lock screen option active?Off
-Also I have on auto Brightness at about 40% mainly cause my eyes hurt at full. I have a blue lock screen and a tan home screen with default samsung theme .

Always on display is off. Reason for this was not battery related but more I found it distracting while driving.

As time goes on, I am sure we will see more difference between the already overclocked Snapdragon quad core and the Exynos octa core models. It has already been noticed that there are audio problems, as mentioned in post #6, on this and other forums. Also, because the Snapdragon is overclocked, we may see more overheating issues, in spite of the heat pipe that was introduced in an attempt to mitigate it. This, in turn, will, as we see from the video, lead to a slowing, throttling, down of the U.S. phones.

You sound quite gleeful about it.

Over the past few days I noticed an ever decreasing battery life on my S7. I have not made any system changes nor have I installed any new apps. This is consistent with my experiences with the S6 and the S5 before that where, a few weeks into owning the device, the battery life starts to drop considerably from what was very good life at the beginning. Now, I'm at 63% with 3h43m on battery and about 1h39m of sot.
What gives?

This happens to me on ALL Android Devices. When I got my 6P I could get 3 Hours SOT in a full day. Now I get about 1:30mins SOT in a full day. No change in apps or usage. I think the Android OS just has a LOT of issues that even Doze can't fix.

I'll add this to the discussion. For me, the way I use my phone, battery life is a non-issue anyway because of the device's combination of fast charging and wireless charging. At work, I have a wireless charger right at my desk, so anytime I'm not actively using my phone, it's charging anyway. So it never has time to run out of battery.

That would make you an outlier and not relevant to this discussion. The way you keep it charged does not match the other users who have commented.

Because most users on this particular thread leave their phone off the charger for as long as they can just to see how much sot they can get. Some of us actually use our phones all day so we charge then whenever we can

I'm getting good battery and then some. Snapdragon here

I've only noticed battery life drop if there's some unusual background activity. I can usually tell when the mobile data indicator is lit all the time. Usually a restart will correct it but I'm not sure if it's an app or Android causing the battery drain. I can usually feel the phone get slightly warm in a very specific part of the back when this happens. A full charge gets me 40 est hours.

On T-Mo/820 version.

Try turning off Smart Stay in display settings. That improved charge duration for me, as far as i can tell.

People who are charging their phone half way through are destroying they're battery. You're not supposed to plug your phone in until it reaches 20% or less.

This is categorically untrue.

Lithium batteries are not like NICAD batteries - they should be kept as close to a full charge as possible.

This is just wrong these days. Battery technology has moved on somewhat since that were true.

My BL has gone up a lot...since I disabled the always on screen. I have a smart watch so there is no need to have my screen on all the time and at night I can turn it on for the clock because it's charging.

android system is always the biggest battery hog. never had this with other phones i've had. only time i saw this happen was when one of my phones was having problems but restarting it fixed that. it's usually screen or app. why is it that this phone it's the android system that's always using up the battery the most?

"What is SOT?"

It's something people with not a lot going on in their lives worry about. Very much a first world thing.
