Honor 8 camera is the same as P9?

I thing it is BUT in some reviews I saw, shots in p9 looks a little better...

any comments?

There is some debate regarding this. Some people say that due to the lack of Leica branding the honor 8 uses different firmware. One thing people say is that if you cover the monochrome sensor on the 8 it doesn't seem to do anything, but on my device it tells me to take me finger off the lens.

The camera app on the honor 8 is missing some of the same options, if it doesn't have the exact same camera options it could change the outcome of photos.

The processor on the 8 is slightly slower, that could mean the image capture is slightly slower which would impact photos too.

Overall though at worst the images are only a little worse than the P9, and the Honor 8 does have some pretty decent photos. It especially does well with balancing the light and dark areas of a photo.

Similar setup, but P9 has Leica branded stuff. They both have the 12MP Sony IMX 286 sensor. Also the same pixel size of 1.25 microns for either camera.

On the function the only difference is P9 have monochrome mode. Honor 8 you need to use the filter.

I think that the p9 camera app are the diference to better shots in our Honor 8.

Hopefully someone can port the p9 app to honor.

Can we please get access to the monochrome mode. I am a big fan of black and white photography and for me, it would make my enjoyment of the device increased.

I'll have to double check when I get the phone.
Noticed one of the video reviewers doing it to get black and white shots.
I think it was a Pocketnow phone camera review.

It looks like in the first set,the honor 8 was brighter,second p9. Could have been differences in Manual adjustment?Both look great though.
