Honor 8 developer friendly?

Anyone have experience with Honor phones and ROMs? Do they typically allow for unlocked bootloaders, rooting, etc?
Not a deal breaker with the Honor 8, but nice to know the option is available to tweak the software.

The Honor 5X had a dedicated bootloader unlock code site, but it has been down for a while. I think Kirin chips are harder to root because of their relative obscurity compared to Snapdragon, but with XDA working on it, I wouldn't be surprised if they got unlock and root within a week.
