I'm curious...Any Honor 8 Note Owners out there? I just got one and it rocks. We need our own thread.

Please tell us about it! It sounds like a great phone! What's your favourite feature about it?

Sure ☺

There is a lot to like here. The build quality is amazing! It kinda reminds me a bit of a Nexus 6P is some regards, the metal body finish and all.. I mean really...it's like a piece of art. It feels really good in the hand, is super thin especially for a phone this size, and is a joy to use all around. Oh...and HSPA has been just fine...No LTE.

My favorite feature has been both its size and the screen. It is VERY vibrant, making it perfect for viewing content (news, articles, social media) and is even pretty good at productivity because of the screen size. Just today I was able to really edit a PPT I've been working on for a presentation without a hitch on the run. The size also makes it excellent for viewing and writing emails, something I do frequently.

Drawbacks so far has been the camera and pocket-ability the size can at times can be noticeable when carrying in jeans, so there is the trade off. This will be a deciding factor on whether I'll keep this phone long term. Another drawback has been the notifications. I have EMUI on my regular Honor 8 and no matter what I do I can't get my notifications here like I have them on that device (it runs perfectly). I get some but still not all. But I'll work it out soon I'm sure.

This really is a true Note/phablat. GREAT phone!

Thank you so much for your review! How big is the screen, and what colour do you have? Hope you get your notification issue worked out! I agree with you: Honor makes excellent devices with good displays and vibrant colours. It's a great line, for sure!

That's pretty good to hear!

One more question... Is it on nougat?

I am also an owner. i love the phone itself BUT:
i am not getting any push notifications. i tried everything that is mentioned on different forums, in videos or blogs.

i have to manually keep my apps open, if i want to get push notifications. i dont want to give away my phone, because i really like it. but thats a dealbreaker for me :/

does anybody know how to fix that problem?

EDIT: EMUI 5.0.1, Android 7

That sounds like a frustrating issue, for sure! Have you tried restarting your device? Are you using a launcher or anything like that that may be encroaching on your notification settings? If all else fails, I recommend a factory reset; so long as all your important information is backed up.

Thank you for your answer!

First I tried the stock version of EMUI 5.0.1 and it was pretty okay. usually i dont like bloatware but this custom android was okay.
When it first happened, that i could not get push notifications, i tried other launchers like the Nova Launcher. I wanted to try the Google Now Launcher but EMUI would not let me start it. Maybe it's too old.

I already did a factory reset but it stayed the same. i dont have important data on it yet, so i will maybe try it again.

There is actually a way for me to get push notifications: when i open the app-manager, that shows all the running apps, i can click on a lock. when i "lock" whatsapp and gmail and slack and messenger and trello and, and, and, i will get push notifications. but this is a weird workaround. i just want it to be like on my old android phones :P

Have you looked through your basic Settings app to see if anything is turned off that shouldn't be? App Manager is a good place to start as well. I just don't understand why you're not getting them, especially after a full factory reset! Hmm...

I don't know much about this step, but there's something more experienced helpers on this site know about; something about clearing app caches or something like that... So I would recommend doing that. Sorry, I'm not too sure how it's done, but I think you can do it through App Manager.

Oh, perhaps if you uninstall one app and then reinstall it, that may solve things. I had to do that with my Textra app about a month ago when I was experiencing issues with it.

Keep us posted! Hopefully another user more well versed than I can assist you as well!

When i use the button that is marked red, it works, until i manually close the app. But then i have to keep all the apps open, that i want to get push notif. from.

Ohhh I see what you mean. You've pinned the app or locked it or some such! Well, at least you have a workaround for convenience; but hopefully this issue gets fixed for you! As a last resort, you could always contact Honor/Huawei Support and see if they have any suggestions for you.

Hi all, why shouldn't we have a separate topic for Honor Note 8? I personally have one and like it a lot. It's now my main phone replacing my iPhone 6s and LG Pro 2, since it accepts 2 SIM. I hate to bring 2 phones all the time and I like its big screen and very long battery.
Having said that, one thing I don't like about it is I cannot sync contact directly with my Google account. I have done some research's and find a way to get around but it does not always working. I wish there was an int'l firmware so I could use Google account directly. That would make the phone perfect IMHO.
