Honor 8 & Snapchat Zooming In

Have seen this with other phones, and lots of workarounds- none of which work on the Honor. When taking a video on Snapchat, the video automatically zooms in just enough to look wrong. Pictures on both cameras work just fine.

I have tried:

  • Updating Snapchat
  • Checking for OS update
  • Changing from 16:9 to 4:3 and vice versa
  • Shooting in landscape/portrait
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling
  • Clearing Cache
  • There is no image stabilization to turn off on this phone

This is a great phone, but this is another reason why I need to keep around an iOS device. Apps always work better on iPhone. I don't know what else I can do. Thing is, I saw another thread talking about snapchat, and this issue wasn't mentioned.

Yeah with Snapchat when you record it prior i puts a huge white border on it and calls it a memory, so that's not what I'm looking for.

It has to be a software issue, which worries me because Snapchat will never do an Honor specific fix. Same with EMUI, it's gonna be a while.

Even still, I recall those threads that didn't mention this. So it still may be a setting that needs to be changed.

Did a full reset of my device. Same thing. Loved wasting my time in doing that, I guess it's coming down to whether Snapchat will spend the time to fix this. (Ha.)

Guess I'll have to carry around my iPhone if I plan on using Snapchat.

EDIT: May have actually ruined this device. All the apps I have downloaded now come up as already have been downloaded, even though my device no longer has them. Great.

Are you talking about in the play store on your PC/Mac? It will show that, just click in the installed button and it will let you install it.

Yeah that's what i ended up doing.

Still the same issue. Moved to the Beta Channel on Snapchat, got the new update, nothing.

It may be to do with natural aspect of the camera being 4:9

Didn't know that was the case. I wondered if it had anything to do with it using the left camera for video on the dual.

So effectively there's no fix unless Huawei or Snapchat make a change?

Ah no wonder. I just got this phone few days ago and never got that issue. Thank God it's fixed
