With the Honor 8 getting Emui 5/Android 7 next month, do y'all think it's worth getting a Mate 9 if you already have an Honor 8?

Unless you've had problems with your performance it probably isn't worth it until the price comes down.

Like @edwin walke said, it brings a bigger screen size, and battery life too. I also just learned that the Mate 9 can take black and white photos directly which the Honor 8 does with setting the filter before taking a picture.

Just saw the Mate 9 at Best Buy and it is beautiful. I will have to say that the build quality is about the same as the Honor 8. Comes with a screen protector installed and a case that covers the back and corners. Screen PPI is under 400 but looks as good as the Honor 8.

Ok, looking carefully at the Mate 9 photos, I noticed an important factor: The fingerprint reader is on the front and is not circle!

I'm not sure I would upgrade from an Honor 8, BUT for sure I would pick the Mate 9 over the Honor 8 if I had to choose. :). I have a Mate 9 BTW.

MHA-L29 in Mocha Brown. Now no one selling it in the US seems to have my color, not sure why, BUT I love the look of it! Maybe it's a special edition.

What you have is the international version. Currently only space gray and silver are being sold in the USA with a 1 year warranty.

I do have the L29, and it does have the correct LTE networks. At times I get blazing speed LTE on T-Mobile. :)

Warranty is the issue for me... I had a lg g4 h815 which contained all the gsm LTE USA bands which is the international unlocked model and it had the infamous bootloop problem.lg usa refused to warranty it since it was the international model.

Just went a looked at the mate 9. All it did for me was get me even more excited for EMUI 5 on the honor 8. I don't see myself upgrading at all and not for $600 and only a 1080 screen. That price range is reserved for all the bells and whistles which it doesn't have.

It depends on how important screen resolution is for you... many people are happy to pay nearly a grand for fhd .

I personally would not get a Mate 9, mainly because I was looking for a smaller phone and phablets won't work for my small hands or my even smaller budget. ;) However, it definitely has some pluses that Honor doesn't have as of yet or at all, but I don't see the need for something bigger and better, so to speak - I like what I have! :)

I think once Emui hits the Honor 8, it will be pretty much just a smaller Mate 9 for all intents and purposes.

I had heard some negative things about EMUI, and they may well have based that on earlier versions, BUT I love EMUI 5 on my Mate 9!

I think very few people have negative points about the emui 5. It was mostly on emui 4 and before
