Hello All

Old skool fella here, trying to sort out a new honor pad x8a to work with arlo door bell.

Basically I'd like it to work as a normal android phone would . I.e. when receiving a call from the arlo door bell the honor pad screen immediately shows the accept or decline buttons.

Anyone done this? Your help is most appreciated.

Welcome to Android Central forums.

I briefly looked at the Arlo FAQ page where I found topics on how to connect the device to a hub, which sounds like another device. Step 2 is opening the app. Do you have the app? Are you able to download the app to your tablet? While I don't own this particular doorbell device I do own one that does not require a contract or cloud storage and can say from experience the app is the key. This should have been basic information that came with the doorbell, unless you got it from someone else who didn't pass that along.

In the meantime, might I recommend that visit the Arlo site for assistance.

I believe this link will take you to the article I mentioned. Navigating to their home page will provide other topics that may be of interest to you, but I will say from the brief you gave the app will be the key and if it is not available for your device you may be able to find other compatible apps. Geeni is one that I find to be compatible with several different devices. it is the app I turned to when the app my doorbell used was disconnected.

Here is that link.

This video talks about the app and set-up.

Let us know how it turns out for you.

Thanks very much for the reply.

To be more precise, i ha ve downloaded the Arlo app and have set up permissions so that the honor pad receives the call when the arlo essential doorbell AVD2001 is pressed.

However i woukd like the Honor pad to react in the same way as a mobile phobe.
I.e. when receiving a call the accept and decline buttons are immediatly visible. (no need to press power button or swipe screen or other action to pass lock screen or wake up pad) .

Im doing this for my eaderly grandmother. She is familiar with smartphone calls as far as pressing accept call button on screen.

FYI, no base station is required with this doorbell

Thanks so much

That would come down to your screen off or sleep settings on the device. Again I am not familiar with this device so the best I'm able to do is suggestions, but on many mobile devices there are settings for how the device should react when a notification is received and the device is sleep. Does the device offer an Always On Display, or wake the screen when sleeping, options? My first advice would be to check these things and try different settings until you find one or a combination of settings that get you to this result. You may also want to check Accessibility settings since they may have settings to wake the screen for the hearing impaired, let's say.

Again this would be a good question on the doorbell FAQ page, since they may have heard this request before, and if open posting is permitted, another user with this device may have better insight.
