Hope Samsung and HTC inspire each other...

Make no mistake, I'm in no way denigrating Samsung or any other manufacturer. I was just presenting a case that HTC is leading the Android charge in regards to design.
Samsung is still holding master classes in marketing, ergonomics and arguably, content.
Let's be honest with ourselves and admit that we're glad and relieved that we can finally proudly lay a device on the table beside the beautiful, expensive looking iphone5 and look even more elegant and expensive. AND then turn it on to reveal an embarrassment of visual riches and undeniable power.

DEAD at "embarrassment of visual riches". Ain't that the truth. I just sold my iPhone 5 on eBay, so I agree 100%.

Absolutely. I'm sure every other manufacturer of Android devices said "Damn!" when they saw the HTC One present itself. There's already talk that Samsung is uneasy about the prospect of a unibody, aluminum clad One with gorgeous lines, flowing curves and interesting attention to detail. This uneasiness is great because it will probably propell Samsung and others to eschew simple plastics for more premium materials and more thoughtful design. Android fans deserve this across the board. We should demand products that LOOK like a $700+ device as well as perform like one.
Competition is necessary for advancement.
Apple was forced to stretch their screen size order to continue to compete with Android. We'll most likely see a 5" iphone before long. Apple fans can thank Android for that ahead of time.
This same process will play itself out in Android land.
It only takes one bold successful brush stroke to make every other artist wipe clean his canvas.

I don't htc is behind the metal build materials coming from Samsung. It's already been reported that the note 3 and gs5 will be metal

Every report I've read talks about Samsung being nervous about HTC's use of metals, hence the conversation in the Samsung camp about upgrading materials. You're more than welcome to post a link pertaining to Samsung changing materials that doesn't mention HTC as an influence.

Dunno. I always found it hard to bother reading the 'reports' and 'rumors' many months before phone releases. Most of them end up sounding like they're just reiterating what people want, without having any idea of what's actually coming out soon. The talk about the S3 coming with a ceramic body and all that ended up being unfounded anyway, just like the Liquid metal rumors about the iPhone.

To the OP thanks for starting a refreshing topic. I was hoping that the discussion would be free of talks regarding removable batteries and SD card slots. Seems that is impossible in any thread or article about HTC. Maybe I'll start a thread called..HTC needs to die so we can have our removable battery capability in abundance...and SD CARDS. This was enjoyable for me nonetheless.

Well said. Time will tell.

Why would they bother? People will "just slap a case on it anyway". As a certain fanatic would say. Same goes for having a variety of color options. The colors will be concealed, because people will "just slap a case on it". Who knew?

Agreed. And people's terminology problems continue as they turn "innovate" into "copy" . Copying doesn't benefit anybody, I don't want Samsung just to copy the htc one case, it's been done, and I don't want htc to copy Samsung features.
