horizontal lines on display

So, after playing with different wallpapers the last week or so, I have noticed horizontal gradient lines on the top and bottom of the display. Probably about a half inch worth of lines on the top and a half inch on the bottom. Not a fade of any sort, these are actual lines of varying thicknesses. These lines show up with certain wallpapers such as a solid gray, solid black, etc. They do not show up with other wallpapers such as outdoor nature scenes with shadowing and the like. Very noticeable. Here's the kicker though, this only happens on the lockscreen and the homescreen. This happens on no other screens and if I view a wallpaper that is one of the culprits in the gallery, there are no visible lines. If I screenshot the home or lockscreens, it, shows in the screenshot. If I take that screenshot and view it on my Note 4 or my computer, the lines are there. Again, I can take any wallpaper that is giving me issues and view it in the gallery and it is absolutely fine. In safe mode, the lines are there. I have determined that this is not a display/GPU issue and is strictly a software issue. After spending time on the phone with AT&T and Samsung tech support, they think the same. The AT&T tech remoted into my device and saw the same thing as I did.

As per Samsung's direction, I'm taking it to Best Buy today to flash the OS in hopes of correcting it. If this doesn't work, Samsung said they would repair it as they said they don't replace devices. AT&T said they could replace it if Samsung won't however, it will be with a refurb which I don't want. So, hopefully this works today and if not, I'll probably have Sammy repair it since I have my N4 as backup. I'd rather have my original phone repaired than have refurb garbage.

I'll update with what we find out.

Here's a close up of the screenshot I took of the lock screen. Hopefully it shows on the forum.

Nothing corrected it. Flash OS, factory reset device. Nothing. New one coming Friday. They said new, not refurbished so we will see.

Got new phone Thursday afternoon. Looked up on Phone Info app. Brand new, not a refurb. Knox 0x0. No more lines on screen.

End thread.

EDIT, it has the lines still.

I have the same issue on my international version but not as bad as the pic you posted. It's subtle but it's there. Also mine only appears on the lockscreen. It definitely isn't a screen issue. That is the only issue. I see so many n5 issues on this forum. So thankful mine doesn't have those. So I'm gonna wait for the marshmallow update and see if it gets fixed.

I am having this exact issue on my newly replaced S6 edge plus. I posted screen shots of mine on that topic thread. Any ideas for fixes or reasons for this on this forum?

This is a software issue that has to do with the version of TW that the Note 5, and now as you say S6 Edge +, is running. It has been verified in every way by myself with help from Samsung. I am currently on my 3rd Note 5. Every one of them has had this issue. Everybody that I know personally that has a Note 5 (4 people) have this same issue. Flashing the OS by Samsung and full factory resets do nothing to cure this. The lines only show on the lockscreen and homescreen. As I stated prior, the same image that you use for the home/lock screen that has these visible lines apparent does not have lines when viewed in the gallery. It does not matter if you use a 3rd party launcher or stock TW launcher, they will still be visible. Take a screenshot and view it on another device such as a PC, lines still there which screams software issue. Anyone who says that their phone does not have this is in denial and has never used a solid wall such as a light gray, light blue, etc. The "work around" is to use "busy" looking wallpapers. Landscape scenes with clouds and stuff seem to mask well.

Waiting to see if this becomes fixed when they release 6.0 and the new version of TW to go with it.

To be fair, I am on AT&T and the four other people that I tested this with were all on AT&T as well so I cannot speak for other carriers and their Note 5's Samsung says it's TW but could it be something AT&T has baked in? Anyone with a non-AT&T Note 5 with these issues, please chime in if you haven't already.

Thank you. You know exactly what I am talking about. I am using a different wall paper than the standard black I used to love. Two more things here to note. One. The lines are there and then sometimes they are not so its not necessarily a screen issue but more of a software issue and I can watch them fade away!!! Two. I came here cause this is more of an active thread than on the S6. The phones are virtually the same and knew some had to be having the same issue. I am on Verizon so its not a service provider issue.

Also last on this for now is when I hit the home/side button it seems the lock screen shaded differently than the home screen when they are the same picture. Like a brighter hazy version.

Thank you for replying!
