I just started using my Tbolt as a hotspot and am having a issue. It starts fine,my devices connect fine but then it drops from the mobile network for about thirty seconds then reconnects. It continues this cycle until I turn it off. The phone stays on the network fine with the hotspot off. Anyone?

Its a known problem with the Thunderbolt for certain, and I believe some other phones as well. I use my Thunderbolt a lot for tethering and I have come up with two solutions. 1 Easy Tether, which requires you to be connected through a USB. It is available in the market. 2 You can root your phone and use something like open garden. I don't feel bad about using that app because I am paying Verizon for the mobile hot spot, they just can't fix it apparently.

A replacement phone MAY help. I had these same issues when using the hotspots to connect to the Xoom. Got tired of it and sold the Xoom to my friend. She used a Thunderbolt and never had disconnections.

Couldn't explain why if I tried.

The hotspot software has a power mode setting under Advanced. Make sure it is set to always on. I had disconnect problems until I did this. If no data is flowing between the phone and the wifi connected device for a period of time it shuts down... Hope this helps

I've never had this issue with mine either (using the "official" paid Hotspot app).

I keep mine set to "always on", FWIW.
