hotmail account not refreshing

My mom's droid x is not refreshing properly with her hotmail account - the gmail account works fine but with the hotmail account it won't automatically give you the alert. You have to hit refresh every time. What settings do i have to change?

Settings > accounts > hotmail

Make sure it's set to sync

Also, check Settings > Data Manager > Data Delivery

Make sure all items are checked (background data, Data roaming and Data enabled) If you do social apps, you have the option to sync over wifi only, which should save some battery life.

You can also try K9 email. It works great for my msn account.

Nothing worked for me so I removed the account from Android and set it again. It started working again.
