hotspot signal, range, connection question
first off, I am not real literate when it comes to these issues. Here is my dilemma:
I am in a rural area so I must use a signal booster in my home for connection with my LG G4 phone which I use as a hotspot. To get the best signal strength per my computer network connection indicator (5bars), I put the phone close to my computer. to get the best signal per my signal meter on my phone, I put the phone near my booster which is about 20 feet away. Then I get an indication of 4 bars.
I think 4 bars is good enough and 20 feet difference should not have a big impact.
Either way, I get very slow internet connection.
My signal strength with the phone near my booster is about -88 db and if it is close to my computer it is -108db.
It seems to work best near my booster but even then sometimes the wifi drops.
with the phone close to my booster my speed tests show about 85 ping, 14.5 download and 7 upload.
The signal strength is a good bit higher if the phone is near my booster but the wireless connection is lower (by one bar) if the phone is near my booster.
Given all that, my question is - Would a wifi repeater help if I put one near my computer and the phone 20 feet away near my booster?
