Hotspot?

Well, here's how it works:

The Pixel 2 phones, like many modern Android phones, are both capable of Wi-Fi Hotspot and Bluetooth Tethering. However, either or both of these functions can be disabled by your carrier.

If you currently cannot hotspot/tether on your Verizon account, it is likely that you will continue the same status even with a new Pixel 2 / 2 XL phone.

I don't think it's this simple. I had a Samsung galaxy s3 prior to my X Pure. I couldn't tether on that phone because I didn't have the feature on my plan. I got the X Pure, and was able to tether. I didn't make any changes to my account.

I think what he saying is most phones have a check that checks whether or not you have hotspot enabled in your plan. So it's possible your S3 did check, and thus you couldn't use the hotspot, while the X Pure didn't check, so thus you could.

I wish there was a way to know what phones don't check.
