For those who haven't noticed online, there is an unintended consequence of the privacy display technology that many people will not like. That is the display when reading on the phone is noticeable downgrade. I'm not sure if there are people on here that remember the HTC Evo 3D. It was an interesting display technology that made things on your display look 3D. Problem is, it hurt your head if you looked at it long enough. lol Well, I'm afraid the S26 Ultra is similar. There are reports of the display causing headaches and eyestrain. I went to Best Buy to check out reading on the phone and I wouldn't even use the privacy display it's so bad. And I had eye strain even with the privacy mode off. I was going to pre order but I'm very unsure now. I'm going back to Best Buy and spend time comparing my S24U and the S26U. This could be a deal killer. I've added some links below so you can see what I'm talking about. It doesn't sound like a big deal but eye strain, headache or feeling cross eyed from looking at a display is. I nearly felt cross eyed trying to read with the privacy mode on and it was still somewhat noticeable with it off. I encourage people who preordered to go to Best Buy ASAP to see for yourself. Videos are fine. The video is an upgrade. Its the readability in a browser. I didn't notice it when the phone was in the store mode but when opening up chrome to read on it was very noticeable. I don't think this technology is ready for primetime much less the S26 Ultra. And I wish the S26 Ultra had a normal display without the tech.

You definitely have a hate for this phone and you have already said you're not even a Samsung user. Most people if not all people are not going to have privacy turned on 24/7. Most are going to use it for certain apps or notifications or just turn it in temporarily when they want it, you know porn on the bus. Samsung did it right, it's not all or nothing, or it's just all on no option to turn off. You can leave it off period, not even ever use it. I guess this is a good warning for the few that are planning on having it on full time, and if they were they could just select the apps they want it off for reading apps. Just select all apps and then un-select the apps they use for reading to turn it off, just do it opposite.

I myself am not buying the phone just for the privacy screen, I do think it's a nice feature to use for certain things, but never planned on using it full time. The privacy screen is a good option to have and I believe it will catch on with other manufacturers and only improve over time. Give it up to Samsung for at least bringing something new to the table for future phones and improvements.
