How are Honor & Huawei related?

Folks,

I know I'm supposed to be the Q&A guy, but I'm really clueless here. I KNOW there is a connection between the companies. Does Huawei own Honor, sorta like T-Mobile owns MetroPCS? Or is it more like the relationship between cooperating companies like say One Plus and Oppo? Or Verizon Wireless and Vodafone?

I think Huawei owns Honor. The charger included with the Honor 8 says Huawei on it, and there are some other things in the Honor that links to them directly. Such as the contacts is called Huawei Contacts, the launcher is Huawei Home, etc.

Wiki says it started in 2013. Wiki isn't always right but... 98 seems too early.

More like the parent BBK Electronics to OPPO, OnePlus, or vivo.

Or Toyota to (almost defunct) Scion.

(Verizon bought out Vodafone's stake in Verizon Wireless already, right?)
