So my sister gave me back the phone and said blackberry was better, so dissapointed that i could not convert her, her main issue was Battery Life of the Vibrant soo i've managed to see it is and issue. So forum how are you guys handling it and what methods are you pursuing to maintain your battery life.
I've soo far downloaded Green power from Market and task killer and lowered my brightness to 0% bcuz with this super amoled screen you dont need backlight pass 1 %..

I'm still struggling with this one. I now have wifi only running then the screen is on because I noticed some odd behaviors keeping it always on. I had the screen brightness as low as possible but noticed I'd accidentally up it via the notification bar or some app would adjust it. I was using a task manager but decided to not get it because it wasn't helping. I did install Spare parts to get an idea on what was running in the background.

What are people seeing for up time on their phone? Is it possibly a rogue process willing the battery?

I am getting great battery life out of mine. Lots of texting and calls all day. A little browsing and youtube on down time and bluetooth always on. Mine comes off the charger at 8 and by 10 at night I am sitting at a little over 40% most nights. For an android phone it seems pretty good. Has been much better then my N1.

Depending on how much I use it. Today I was playing "showoff the phone" at the office and I got a good 8 hours out of the phone before I got my 25% warning. So I am good with the battery.

I live in an area without 3g reception, so I was deceived by decent battery life over the weekend. However, after returning to work today, where I am in 3g area, I was out of juice by 1pm. Have to charge it at work to make it through the day. Am very disappointed in this....

**Update - I think I figured out today that Ebuddy app was eating my battery. Logged off of it halfway through the day and battery life is great.

I ended up removing account sync for Facebook and a Calendar widget which significantly improved my battery life. This morning was crazy though, ran through 50% of my battery in 3 hours. I pulled the phone off the charger at 3 partially charged to make a call and now it's 11 and I have 30% battery left.

the battery life on mine will last a 8 hour shift easily at my job, thats with wifi off and alot of activity on it.

There are many on eBay. From what I can see, it LOOKS like the Droid and DroidX use the same battery... However, take that with a grain of salt as I don't have a DroidX yet.

Today without facebook account sync and wifi only running when the screen was on I'm getting excellent battery life. Unplugged for 9 hours and still as 43% remaining.

About battery life:

Android has the capability to run many things simultaneously. If you aren't careful about what processes are running in the background and what you have on all the time (screen brightness, wifi, gps, bluetooth), you can drain the battery.

I have been watching my battery life closely, and all I have been doing to get ultra long battery life is to only turn on GPS and Wifi when I am using them, and then turn them off - I dont need them on all the time, and switching them on and off is sooooo easy on Vibrant, just pull down notification tray and boom, its right there. I also use the minimum screen brightness, which is great for me indoors. I am getting 2 days of battery on a single charge.

I also don't have a ton of apps.

That notification bar is brilliant. This phone so far feels like they took all the things bad with android phones and make them simpler.

Talking on the phone kills the battery quickly. I don't think the spec of 6 hours talk time is correct. Anyone seeing the same issue? A 8 min call takes away 5% of the battery?

The battery life is booty- PERIOD. Amazing phone, I love it but I use and abuse airtime due to my business. I'll probably end up grabbing a couple of extra batteries and some kind of charger for them. It's really all you can do. All of the tweaks make negligible differences and soften the user experience.

I noticed that disabling WI-FI when I don't need it improved the battery life,... Also killing certain apps that are not in use.

One thing I do know about the battery on the Vibrant is that the battery display in the notification bar lies. It will be about 3/4 full, but the battery will be at about 50-40%

I agree with SVP. It doesn't seem that there's much of anything one can do to improve battery life short of having extras around. However, these tips have been really good.

I just got my Vibrant for my birthday last week and I LOVE. THIS. THING. It really is like a little robot. Once I get everything how I want it (and Facebook Sync works flawlessly ONCE a day) I don't think I'll ever have another phone ( I said that about my poor Blackberry 8900 lol )

I also played
show off the phone at the office" today along with the usual texting and occassional web browsing. I closed each window after browsing and turned off the FB, weather, and AP news feeds. Took my phone off the charger at 630 AM and about 1030 AM my 15% warning yelled at me which i proceeded to yell WTF!?!?! People said HTC had battery problems which i had a G1 and it wasnt great for battery but it blew this Vibrant outta the water.
