Attach Album Art to MP3s.

Hi,
I have something in the order of 50 to 60Gb of MP3s. They follow a very strict directory structure on my PC i.e.

01 General Music
01 Album 1
02 Album 2

02 English Music (All these are personal recordings no no search Apps will work)
01 Album 1
02 Album 2

I have dropped an image in every directory and I use to have an Archos which displayed the image from the directory on the 250Gb Hard drive.
Since then I have purchased a Samsung Note 3 phone and Tablet which exhibit the problem of not displaying the Album Art from the directory be it the phone or Tablet.

Does anyone know of any APP that can embed the Album Art into the MP3 from the jpg image file in the directory ?

Any help would be appreciated otherwise I fear going back to Archos which only runs Android 2.1 instead of 4.4.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Attach Album Art to MP3s.

Don't know of an app, but you can do that with MediaMonkey on your PC. The problem with the image in the folder is that it's a very old protocol. Newer MP3 should have the image attached to the file itself, which is what the phone's player is looking for.

However, you might find 3rd party media players for your phone that CAN read album art from folder images. I haven't used any since I mostly stream stuff now, but it's worth a shot. There are a few available in the Play Store.

Get Musicbee and configure it to embed the album art into the mp3, Musicbee can search for Album art off the Internet and edit missing tags like the album art.
Some music players like poweramp and rocket player recognise photos in the folders as album art

Re: Attach Album Art to MP3s.

Thanks people, I was hoping not to have to give up. I appreciate that its a little protocol, that's why I am trying to get with the program, things have moved on. Ironic considering I work in IT in a programming role. My next plan would've been to write something in Visual Basic and embed the album art into the MP3 although this would need some investigation.

Looking for a Player to utilise images from folders is also problematic as Android seems to copy the images to my Gallery so that it can then be used for display with the player and this messes up the Gallery big time, needing a clean up.

It's good looking for album art on the internet but 90% of these images are my own recordings of live programs and hence won't have album art on the net. I have dropped an JPG picture file for each directory.

I will try MediaMonkey on your PC as this will fix the problem once and for all.

I am wondering if MediaMonkey can attach the directory images to all the tracks in the directory. I will have a go.
Thanks really appreciate that.

Re: Attach Album Art to MP3s.

Yup, Media Monkey can (and does) just that. If you want to avoid the images from showing up in the Gallery (it doesn't copy them, the Gallery just looks for any media file in your phone and displays it there) you could add a .nomedia file and place it inside the folder. This would prevent, in theory, the system from looking for media files in that folder, thus avoiding the picture from showing up in your gallery. HOWEVER, I'm not sure if this would also have the side effect of your music files no longer showing up automatically in the stock music player and you'd have to select them manually to play.

But definitely the 'safest' route is Media Monkey. I used that when I did use MP3 and it was really good.

Great, Thanks a million, pretty sure that's my solution. I will have a go.

Re: Attach Album Art to MP3s.

Ok,

I have had a look at MediaMonkey and so far I have been unable to graps how to attach Album Art to Multiple files. I can attached Album Art for one track by setting the image for it. What I am trying to do is set the album art to almost 50gb to 60Gb of Music. As iterated above, I have them all structured in directories.

What I want to do it auto-set the album art for say 15 tracks that are located in that directory x 50Gb of music.

If I was to set the images manually for each track it would take for ever. Losing the will to live, I know it should be doable.

So, if I have the following :
01 General Music
--> 01 Album 1 (contains Album1.jpg)
----> Track01
----> Track02
----> Track03
----> Track04

Then I would want to attached Album1.jpg to all 4 Tracks.
All the above times 50Gb.
Not so easy now hey..
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have Poweramp, on my Samsung Galaxy S5, with lollipop 5.01 OS. Poweramp, will play my Google Play Music, that's on my 64gb SD Card but it will not show Artist Name, Track Title or Album Art. Do you know how to correct this and if not can you point me to someone who can. I'm a Newbie to Android Central.

Ok, so far my experience is the same and I have chosen to explore:
Media Money
and
TagTuner (check out Google for Tagtuner website)
Still working on the problem but the later TagTuner mines into your directory structure and applies the AlbumArt and Album Name. (albeit a $29 but for me the cost out ways the time lost trying to manually do this myself on almost 2200 MP3 files).
Regards
