How can I clear messages from my Galaxy Watch without deleting them on my phone?

Hi there. I just bought a new Galaxy Watch and love it - but there is one issue that might be a deal-breaker. I can't figure out how to get text messages off my watch WITHOUT deleting them from the text threads on my phone! I feel like there must be a way to "clear" those messages from the watch without deleting them entirely from the phone, too. Can anyone offer a solution or work-around?
