How can I correct my s6 edge plus stuck in boot loop

A

AC Question

I recently bought a s6 edge plus on Craigslist (I know!) and was told it just needed a new battery.... LIES! the phone charges properly but when powered on it shows the s6 edge plus screen and then proceeds to display the "Samsung" splash screen upon which it shuts down and either reboots or the screen goes black with blue indicator light. I am able to get the phone in recovery mode but first see "installing system update" at which time it acts like its doing something only to eventually see a dead android with a exclamation mark and then to the recovery options....I have tried several times to wipe the cache and also factory reset with no change occurring. I can also access download mode and have tried to use odin to flash stock, although it states successful, after the download is done and it starts to install it gets about half way and shuts down restarts only to the same problem..... I spent 300 + dollars on this phone and would like to use it if possible :( any help or suggestions would be great ....

Welcome to Android Central! The seller may not have been lying -- that kind of behavior where the phone can't get through the boot process can be seen with a failing battery.

the thing is that is only does this when trying to start the phone normally..... when in recovery or download mode the phone has no issues restarting

also after the Samsung splash screen the phone display goes blank but the indicator light alternates between dark/light blue which tells me its actually still on but not booting properly....is that incorrect?

How long will the phone stay on in Recovery? It's possible that booting into Recovery takes less energy than a full boot. I'm not sure what that light means -- do you know for sure that means it's on? Most phones don't have a blue light that stays on during normal usage. I definitely have seen many posts about malfunctioning Samsung phones that have a blank screen and a blinking blue light.

Does it shut off during boot even when plugged in and charging from a wall outlet?

if charged pretty well it will stay on in recovery for quite some time --- with no failure also in the download screen it doesn't restart although I do see what your saying about it taking less power. As far as the indicator light you may be right as well. As far as it boot looping while plugged in yes it does. I am not a tech guru but I feel like theres something wrong with the firmware .... :(

Are you in the US? If so, try taking it to your local Best Buy and see if the Samsung rep can help.
