How can I fix my power button settings?

I changed my password and since then I have to press the power button or else my phone won't turn off. Even when my phones screen turns black when I press the power button my phones lock screen doesn't come up. How can I fix it so that without me pressing the power button my phone turns off when the screen blacks out?

The phone normally doesn't turn off until the battery dies. You can set the lockscreen to come up when the screen blacks out, but the phone is still on at that point. Just look at Settings/Lock Screen/Secured lock time. The first one is normally "when the screen goes black".
