How can I fix Unfortunately Google Play Services has stopped working?

"Unfortunately Google Play Services has stopped working"

I have an Alcatel One Touch and everytime i go to the Google play store to sign in it continues to say "Unfortunately Google Play Services has stopped working" I've tried clearing the cache and it still hasn't worked. Any other suggestions?

Have you tried Uninstall Updates? You can always reinstall them later.

Sometimes the updates don't install correctly and backing them out and installing again works better.

I'm not entirely sure how to uninstall updates. I've tried rooting my phone with Kingo ROOT but have failed in all attempts. Is there another way to uninstall updates?

I have an Alcatel OneTouch, Idol 4S, which gives me the same error, "Unfortunately Google Play Services has Stopped." This is the factory base software, Android Marshmallow version 6.0 (security patch level - 1st October 2015). This is a new phone that has failed to log onto Google Play Store, so it cannot be detected for appropriate upgrades. How can I resolve it?
