How can I get better pics in sunlight?

Everything outdoors comes out washed out. I'm in Florida and a lot of shots around sand and water...

Wow that stinks,, I find my best pictures are in sunlight. Check your settings. Usually is on auto but try setting it manually to like outdoors /or daylight or however it's worded. See if that helps.

Also make sure that your lens is clean, even though the glass is slightly recessed it can still smudge relatively easy. I was taking a few shots the other day and was like "wtf?" then I realized I hadn't cleaned my lens in a while.
