Broken Screen on my S5 with a passlock

Help!
I got a small hairline crack on the inside screen on my Galaxy S5; this caused my screen not to operate, and I cannot unlock it in order to back it up to my PC.
When I plug my phone via USB into my PC (it still vibrates when being plugged in), and I go to my computer, then click on my device, it shows up empty saying zero items.
I'm assuming that is because my phone is locked with a passcode.
I thought my phone auto backs up to my gmail account, but I guess it doesn't back up pictures (so stupid!!)

Is there any easy way of unlocking my phone so I can import my pictures onto my PC?....without having to spend a lot of $$ on special USB cords etc etc?

Thanks in advance

A frustrated S5 owner.

The OP's phone has a screen lock, so the data on the phone can't be accessed by the computer until the screen has been unlocked. Which is a problem if the screen is broken.
