How can I get my alarm working on my Samsung Grand Prime?

Alarm not working on Samsung Grand Prime

Just purchased a Samsung Grand Prime mobile 2 days ago.

On setting the alarm at night, and switching off the mobile, the alarm doesnt work!

This was working very well with my previous Android phone which had Android 4.3.
Every morning, the mobile would automatically turn on 15 secs before the alarm and trigger the alarm.

Is this a bug in Samsung Grand Prime or in Android 4.4.4 or just some setting issue.
(The volume is on maximum.)

Please guide..

Try using sleep mode after setting the alarm. I had to do that on my Samsung Note Pro 12.2 to get alarm to work. Sleep mode doesn't seem to drain the battery, at least it doesn't for my tablet.
