Hi Everyone, I hoping to get some advice to determine why my UK bought Galaxy S7 will not allow local calls with a South African sim card. I don't have the phone with me, it is with my mum in SA.

On inserting the SA sim card the phone starts and notes that it is not possible to make or receive local calls. It does connect to WiFi and even What'sApp is working and linking to the account associated with the sim card.

The phone is not bringing up a lock screen nor does it ask for a pin so I don't think it is a network or a region lock.

Any ideas what is going on? Any help would be great.

Thanks

It may not have the cellular bands necessary for South African networks. It may be worth checking to see what network bands your phone has and what bands your mother's network uses.

Thanks Kizzy.
I just checked and my old UK network uses 2100 MHz and the SA network uses 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz.
So this does not look to be the issue.

Thanks to everyone that has given advice. The issue was actually with the South African network provider.
I am not sure of the exact details but the phone is now working perfectly.
