How can I get my Google calendar and my Nexus 5 calendar to sync?

Calendar issues / problem

When I add the birthday of a contact into its contact details in my nexus 5, it does not show on my Google calendar. please suggest what to do!?

Have you checked the settings of the Calendar? I have to go to "Calendars" and not actual "Settings" as I can have a Samsung Calendar also.

Birthdays are listed under my Google Calendar, the box has to be checked.

I had to link them somehow, probably in the accounts and sync menu make sure that your google account has a tick on near the calendar and people sections.
