How can I get my notification and ringtone sounds working?

My notification and ringtone sounds wont work

I just bought my Samsung galaxy s6 edge 5 days ago it's been working fine up until today. When I received a text message it didn't make the sound so I thought my phone was on vibrate or silent but it wasn't so then I went to settings and checked my notification setting and when I clicked the sound it didn't make a sound. So then I checked if I could hear the ringtone and I also couldn't hear. Mind you the volume is all the way up. So I decided to restart my phone and the sound worked gain but after a while the sound went away again and idk what is causing it. Please help

I have a GS6 Edge and couldn't replicate your issue.
If you just got it, I recommend you to exchange it right away.
Just in case is a defective unit.

Is there a default sound? I find my default sound overrides my chosen sounds and if default sound is on silent nothing makes a sound. Trying to solve that.
