Tab S 10.5 (Lollipop) USB Audio Out

Hi

I've been trying to get USB Audio out to work on my Tab S (kitkat) with an external DAC (Fiio E17K) for about a day now. Then I discovered that some manufactures don't support USB Audio on there android devices, but that lollipop should support it natively. So today SAMSUNG releases the Lollipop update for the Tab S, I update my device, and it still doesn't work. Audio comes does out of the internal speakers with no issues. As far as I can tell, the DAC when plugged into the Mirco USB port does seem to take over the sound capabilities of the device, but it doesn't output any sound thru the headphones. The DAC does work though. It worked connected via USB with my SONY Z1 Phone. Does anyone have any ideas or is there something I'm misunderstanding about Lollipops USB Audio Support

Have you tried using an OTG cable from the Tab S to the DAC instead of plugging the DAC directly in to the Tab S? I think there has to be some kind of conversion first with the Tab S and OTG. I could be wrong but might be worth a shot.

I would give the OTG option a try. There seems to be some kind of glitch between the two devices. The OTG cable could help translate the information better for you. Have you tried a different cable?

Hi,

Thank You itguyjax8430 for responding to my post.

I'm the original poster of this problem. I have tried an otg cable, and two different DACs, nothing seems too work. The otg cable works with usb drives, and wireless mouse dongles I tested it with on the TAB S. I'm begin to think that it may have something to do with the micro usb port doing double duty as a USB power bus and it also transferring data. Since the DAC itself as an internal battery, I believe that there is some conflict happening, that shouldn't be. I did not see any options in settings to disable USB charging either on the TAB S.

I emailed Samsung about the issue, but I haven't heard back from them (really don't expect to either).

Re: Tab S 10.5 (Lollipop) USB Audio Out

its not just you

Note 3 + Tab S 10.5 with Kitkat 4.4 - worked flawlessly with my E17 DAC

updated Tab S 10.5 to 5.02 and E17 DAC no longer works

works with USB Audio Pro tool (or whatever its called) - but of no use to me as I don't really use local content anymore - 99.99% of my usage is streamed (I subscribe to Spotify, Netflix, Amazon Instant Video etc)

Did anyone find a solution to this problem? I have a Fiio E07K Andes and it works fine on my 4.2.2 tablet, but is garbled on my 5.0 Galaxy s5.
