How can I get my touchscreen to respond?

Really need help! touchscreen isnt responding

I've had my samsung s4 for about 8 months with a screen protector on and the other day it just randomly stopped working. the lock screen works and i can swipe to unlock it but once i get to the home screen the phones screen just stops responding all together.
this happened for about 9 hours and then it started working again for only 5 minutes, then returned to the touchscreen not responding. i've
cleared the cache and nothing has happened the only thing i can think of is that the digitiser is broken.
someone please help

Looks like digitizer is O.K. (You can unlock your screen). Try factory reset. Or if you got ODIN software and Original STOCK ROM for your S4 just rewrite your firmware (should be problem with drivers for your touchscreen). Anyway, your problem should be solved!
