How can I get photos from my photos app (they aren't in gallery ) onto iPhoto or dropbox (preferably to sync them if not transfer them ) TIA

Are these photos stored locally on your phone, or are they in your Google+ Photos cloud albums? If they're stored locally, you should be able to install the Dropbox app on your phone, then upload the photos to Dropbox using the app. The photos themselves are not actually stored in the Photos app--they should be in a directory in Internal Storage (probably /DCIM/Camera).
