How can I get text messages working correctly on my Galaxy S7 Edge?

Text messages not working correctly on galaxy s7 edge.

I have been trying to figure this out since Monday. But my texts won't pop up In the notifications bar. And I'm talking about not seeing the persons name flash on the task bar and then read out the message. My s5 did that but idk what options I set for it. Also I'm not referring to the quick pop up either since I turned that off. Basically if I'm in an app like Facebook I never even see that I got a text because the persons name didn't flash up top.

What app are you using? When did you turn off the pop-upsm? I've found the wording for pop-ups and notification bar items rather similar in some apps. Handcent SMS has a nice feature that allows you to test your notification. It'll play the sound show the icon and anything else opposed to do when a message is received so that you can experience it without the wait and see. Your app may have a similar function. I'd double check that only the quick response pop-up is blocked and start there.
