How can I get the Play Store on my HTC One ME?

I recently bought a Chinese import HTC One ME. After turning it on, I discovered the play store was not there, Google accounts etc like my UK M8. Is there a way to change this as it looks like a completely different user interface!!! I thought the idea was you could buy a phone anywhere and configure it for whichever country you lived in...
