How can I increase the headphone volume on my Nexus 6?

How can I increase headphone volume on Nexus 6

Everytime I try to use my nexus 6 to listen to music in a loud public place I can barely hear my music over my headphones. My nexus 6 is rooted, does anyone know a way to boost the volume? P.S. I tried to modify the mixer.xml file... changed the level but nothing happened.

Well, you need better headphones. Maybe I don't know, noise canceling ones?

I have Sennheiser HD-280 PRO headphones that I use for video production and it's still low...

Have you compared the volume to other head sets? See if there's an Improvement with others headphones and compare the sound with your hd-280's.

Let us know how the comparison goes.

dc5pat - I've been looking at that option, but I'd rather not have another device to drag around lol.
srkmagnus - I have a pair of cheap headphones I use for the gym and they are worse. I use to run cyanogenmod on my galaxy s 3 and the boost in volume in that rom was awesome... there were times I would have to LOWER the volume for fear of ear damage. I guess lawyers have lowered the ceiling for headphone output, it's a shame.

I had the same issue. I used the free Samsung headphones, the Apple buds, and beats studios. No luck. Others suggested using an amp app but that didn't help either.

Lol I tried a few anyways. I eventually gave up.
It sucked so much, especially at the gym.
