How can I make the open with popup window stop appearing?

please help me make the "open with" popup window stop appearing

I have a Samsung galaxy tab s and every time I'm using the Internet I get a popup asking which browser I want to use to open with. I tell it Google Chrome and always then it tells me how I can clear defaults. If I tell it always why does it continue to pop up? I've tried clearing the defaults and that has no impact. I'm about ready to throw this thing across the room!

Welcome to Android Central! After you select Chrome and tap Always, the message that comes up about clearing defaults is purely informational, to remind you how to clear the default in the future if you want to. Just dismiss that message without actually clearing defaults, and it should remember your choice.

If that worked it would be fine. It asks this question every time. On pages I've been before, even when I hit reply on a post somewhere.

Ok, so when you select Chrome to complete and action and select Always, you're saying that the next time you tap a link that wants to open the browser, it asks you again? Is it giving you the exact same selections, or are they different? If you're tapping on links for different sites, it might still ask you to select a default. Here's an example:

1. You're in your browser and tap a link for some deal at Groupon. You have the Groupon app installed. When you tap the link, it's possible for it to be opened in the browser, or in the Groupon app, so it asks you which one you want to complete the action, and if you want that to be the default.

2. Later, you're in your browser and tap a link for a Yelp review. You have the Yelp app installed. It will ask again what you want to use to complete the action, but this time, it will give you the browser and the Yelp app as options.

3. In both of these examples, if you were to go back to the browser and tap another link related to either Groupon or Yelp, then it should remember your default and just open it.

Are you saying that step 3 doesn't happen?
