How can I only play songs which are on my phone?

I have a Pixel 3A, which the OS is current, and use Goole Play Music. When I ask Google to play a specific artist, it keeps going online and plays songs that I don't like. I only want to play songs which are on my phone. I can't find a solution to this in the player settings. Does anyone have an idea?

Are you talking about using Google Assistant? If you're using the Play Music interface only, then tap Menu, then turn on the Downloaded Only toggle.

I did that, but when I say, "Play songs by Pink", for example, it doesn't. Instead, it says this, "That artist is only available for Google Play Music subscribers." I have lots of songs by Pink on my phone. Requesting any other artist gives the same result. And also, I have the artists' names on every song I have, in the correct place.

I think the "play music" command on Google Assistant may be only for streaming services. What if you say, "Play songs by Pink on my phone"?

Yeah, I tried that too, and other ways of saying it. The playlist command works every time. I'd just hate to make 500 playlists to be able to make this work the way I want it to.
