How can I play music from an SD card on a G4?

I have an LG G4 with an installed SD card. I have copied music to the SD card from my computer, but I cannot find an app that will recognize/find the music files on the SD card. If I go to the files from File Manager, I can play them, but I want to use an app so that I can play the songs randomly. I've been able to do this on all of my phones in the past. Why can't I do it on the LG G4?

The default music app recognises music from my SD card?
I literally put a music folder on the top layer of the SD card with sub folders in it and it picked it up automatically.

Mine too.

You may have to give the phone a bit of time to index the SD card once you place it in.. But after that the default app, play music etc should all recognize and play the music from the SD
