How can I put links in my post? Pls

I see links in here all the time, its great! I've used a few myself
I've done it a lot on my lap top, I just highlight the link or URL, copy then paste where I want it. Then it has the blue underline and I can use that to get back in.
But I can't for the life of me work out how to do it by touch. I long press on a link but when I let go it goes to the link, and the URL doesn't work either.
I've tried settings but that doesn't help, maybe I've missed something though.
Please share.

Hello,

To clarify your trying to copy and paste a link to your post in the forums?

You have 2 ways to achieve this.

1. Copy your URL/link information with your mobile device then from browser or forum app like AC Forums App or Tapatalk you just long press in your post and it should give you a PASTE option.

2. If your using a mobile browser and browsing the forums in FULL DESKTOP VIEW then when making your post, at the bottom right of your post editor you will see a Go Advanced button. Select that option and it will open an advanced editor with more options. See the screenshot below.



Notice the RED BOX around some buttons, those buttons will allow you to add an IMAGE, URL & VIDEO or REMOVE THEM from your post. Click it and you can then copy and paste the URL into the pop up box and it will create a hyperlink in your post.

Yes i want to be able to copy & paste a link into a forum post im writing (or have written & am now editing).

I'l check the"full desktop view" stuff u mentioned, it sounds useful.

But my problem is with the androids because they are touch devises. I can copy and paste text that can be typed into/edited, but nothing else like pdf files. And i cant copy any links because however long i press on the one spot in the link, it still goes to the link instead of giving me the option to select what i want, copy etc.

And if i go at the top of the web page into the web address & long press it just puts the curser where i touch. If i quick touch and it highlights, wen i long press the highlighted url it just puts the curser where i touch & un-highlights.

I cant see your picture, but if i work that out it might solve the paragraph above. Il check the picture on my lap top.

But ofen im not in desktop view wen i want to copy a link.

I hope this is understandable. I keep rereading & cutting out wot isnt needed.

Didn't read the whole thread...
When you longpress the the URL, you should get options at the top of the screen...a bunch of icons. DO you have those?

By the way i cant work out where this is now. I check the link Paul gave me but its not enough info to actually work out where its situated. Unless im reading it wrong (who me?! ).

Im on my phone & just went to a few web pages & can do some copying & pasting. Im going to play with this for a while on phone, tablet & laptop, to see what i can & cant do, on what devices.

Il wait til i get through all that, then having jotted it all down, will report back (hopefully with "I can do it now ). Unless iv got questions meanwhile.

On my tablet, managed to copy the URL of a web page I was on, then paste it to a post in ac forums!
But it didn't show up as a link until I'd submitted the post.

I wonder if the other one I tried worked then. Can't remember where I tried it now, I might have even not posted it thinking the link didn't work. Lol

I think I've got it!!! On the tablet anyway.
Very similar to what u said, and even the option to copy a link to the topic or a post.

If I want the topic, click the 3 dots down the bottom (is that the menu?), click more, click copy URL.
If I want the post, click the post, click more, click copy post URL.

I did manage to put a link from an image on the net into a post in l@@terms lounge. I was so excited lol.

I'll test it in a sec, then I'll try the phone.

Edit: Yep, I copied the post URL, pasted it in my post in l@@terms lounge, tested it & it took me back here via the web,

I did a big post to this, thanking u for your suggestion coz it helped heaps (even tho it worked a bit different on my tablet).
But it isn't here
I've had a few posts that havnt gone throo, I think its just my internet connection.

I've been gradually working on testing putting links into posts, mainly in the l@@ters lounge. Best place to do random stuff lol.
Still got to try a few more links on my phone, plus start on my laptop.
I'd asked u a few questions, but can't remember them now.
One was probably how I can get to this topic since it got moved. I go via the link Paul gave me in a PM, but I'd like to know where it actually is. Keep trying to find it looking for some of the phrases in the link, but so far it hasn't worked
I would love it if you can explain it to me.

Edit: Found it! Tried the internet site then came back to AC the app. Was hunting around, read something similar, came into the forums from there and its there right down the bottom - site news & discussion then feedback & help. I'm gunna check if its there in the forum app.

Edit: Yep I'm in the ac forums app, the bottom forum then go in from there. Yaaaaaay.
